Our Story

Capital Adventure Wales offers a range of outdoor activities and adventure experiences to a wide client group. We have been involved in the Outdoor Industry for over 30 years and have gathered around us an excellent group of staff who are both passionate and well qualified to ensure your outdoor adventure experience is safe, fun and memorable.

Who are we?

Capital Adventure Wales provides activities for Stag and Hen Do’s, youth groups, educational establishments, corporate clients, amongst others. We access areas in and around Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan as well as other areas of South Wales such as the Brecon Beacons and the Gower Peninsula to name but a few.

Our location

Capital Adventure Wales is based in the Welsh Capital, in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, South Wales. We access a range of Outdoor Activities on our doorstep and we are close to the Brecon Beacons, The Gower and The Wye Valley. The road, rail and air connections to Cardiff and to Cottrell Park are unrivalled.

We are linked with Cottrell Park Golf Resort where we provide some of our outdoor activities in the beautiful surroundings and within touching distance of the vibrant City centre of Cardiff. We also can arrange to pick you up from your accommodation in Cardiff and take you direct to your adventurous activity.Our service is personal and bespoke and we ensure your day is tailored to you and your group.

Roger Heslop

Roger is the Director and founder of Capital Adventure Wales. He has a wealth of experience as an outdoor adventurer and has introduced outdoor activities to a wide variety of clients. Over the years,Roger has taken young offenders along the length of Offa’s Dyke raising money for charity, kayaking in Scotland and wild camping on Exmoor.

He has taken the military out on survival training and as one of the Directing staff on Operation Raleigh has led youngsters through the jungles of South America.

As an Outdoor Education Lecturer Roger has organised and led expeditions and taught to degree level. He has travelled extensively, white water rafting on the Zambezi, white water kayaking on the glacial rivers of the Rockies, barefoot water skied in the Volcanic lakes in New Zealand and Florida. He has also kayaked in New Zealand and the hebrides, across the Bristol Channel and circumnavigated the coast of Anglesey. Furthermore Roger has hill walked in the Himalayas, rock climbed in the Alps and mountain biked up and down the Three Peaks.

What a wealth of experience and spirit of Adventure!

Roger’s passion is water sports and is the Welsh Barefoot Water skiing Coach and a coach for the Disabled Water Ski Federation at Heron Lake. He is a keen Alpine and Nordic Skier and has introduced Roller Ski Instruction to South Wales. Roger was the Mountain Biking Bog Snorkeling World Champion and record holder and featured on the pages of Hello magazine alongside Bill Clinton and Nelson Mandela!

He is a pioneer of George Scrambling in South Wales and developed numerous routes and elements used today. His proudest moment was taking children with cancer from the Chernobyl Nuclear Disaster canoeing in Herefordshire.
